Lantana Recovery families can now enroll in the program by Collaborative Counseling.

Charleston, SC, June 22, 2023 – Lantana Recovery, a modern, community-based addiction treatment center for men and women in Charleston, SC, today announced the launch of their new family counseling offering in collaboration with Karen Perlmutter, LISW-CP, owner of Collaborative Counseling. Beginning June 13th, families of Lantana clients will have access to Karen’s 10-week course “Empowering Families That Face Addiction.” This 10-week skill development course is designed to equip families with the practical tools to navigate a loved one’s addiction. The course is being offered both in-person and virtually.

“We’re ecstatic to be offering access to “Empowering Families That Face Addiction” for Lantana families. I’ve worked with Karen for many years and have been fortunate to witness the incredible outcomes she creates for families she works with,” says Warren Phillips, co-founder of Lantana Recovery.

Throughout the ten sessions, families will dive into five main course concepts, including: understanding your loved one’s disease; providing support to a substance user without enabling; living with healthy family boundaries; coping with fear, resentment, guilt, and sadness; and restoring/maintaining a healthy family identity. Families are encouraged to lean into challenging self-growth and can expect to end the course with a new emotional toolkit for handling a loved one’s addiction.

The course will be led by Karen Perlmutter, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over a decade of experience as a therapist in the Charleston area where she specializes in the treatment of substance abuse and mental illness. Over her years of practice, she has honed in on supporting the holistic needs of families affected by those struggles.

“Learning how to best support your loved one during their addiction treatment and recovery can be challenging for families, especially without a support system and guidance. I’m excited to partner with Lantana families to provide them with the skills to cope, understand and better navigate their loved one’s treatment and recovery,” says Karen Perlmutter, LISW-CP.

Lantana is offering six families of clients access to the 10-week course on a scholarship basis. Scholarshiped families will only be responsible for the $120 intake assessment fee and course materials. Scholarships are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, but admission is rolling. Families who are unable to secure a spot for the most current session have the option of paying out-of-pocket for access to the 10-week course.

If a family is interested in enrolling, please contact amanda@lantanarecovery.com to reserve a spot on the waitlist. About Lantana Recovery

Lantana Recovery is a modern, community-based addiction treatment center for men and women in Charleston, SC. Founded in 2018 by partners Dominic Rosa, Eric Carver, and Warren Phillips as a structured sober living facility, they recognized that the Charleston, S.C. area offered an abundance of peer support, educational and employment opportunities for individuals in early recovery yet lacked options for supportive housing. In 2020, Lantana added clinical programming to serve clients in Lantana housing, as well as clients living in the Charleston community. The Lantana Recovery has grown to include medical and clinical staff, outreach, admissions, peer support, and case management services. Clinical programming has expanded to include increased care while still allowing clients to gradually reintegrate into the community as clinical services decrease.
